Amazon River

Description

Amazon is the longest river on Earth. Located in the equatorial regions of South America.

River rises in Peru and flows down from the slopes of the Peruvian Andes to the Amazon lowlands. The flow also consists of relatively short border between Peru and Colombia, and finally goes to Brazil, where flows across its territory in the west-east into the Atlantic.

Most of the basin is located in Brazil, where part of the flow from the confluence with the Rio Negro Solimões called. Southwestern and western part of the basin is located in the territory of Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador and Colombia. Basin is bounded by the eastern slopes of the Andes, south slopes Guayanské highlands and the northern slopes of the Brazilian Highlands. Fills the Amazon Basin, which is one of the largest plains in the world.

Amazon has more than 1,000 major tributaries. Approximately twenty of them represents a large river with a length of 1 500 and 3000 km
